Brave reflections shared by Alicia Curry
from her debut novel, Exposed.

“Out of loss, hope is born. Expose new beginnings.”

“It wasn’t an option for me to take the safest path. I needed to take the road less traveled.”

“This distraction was becoming costly.”

“By making this decision, I was losing something—my control. But it was better than losing my career for silence.”

“My desperate cry turned into a fighting cry.”

“If I didn’t file it, I would stay cocooned, but I knew I would regret it for the rest of my life. It would be tattooed into my memory, the constant reminder that I didn’t speak up when I could have.”

“I walked to my car, through the brisk wind but under the warm sun, and drove away with the comfort of God’s arms wrapped around me.”

“The system didn’t change, but I did. And in this personal change was my victory.”

“So out of depletion, I was forced to expose myself to God, humbly surrender, and in return, He exposed me to new communities, His power to take care of me, and new passions.”
